Check in
Flat 2, 18 Crooklets
Bude
Cornwall
EX23 8NE
Check in is from 3pm. Parking on the lane outside is free but limited and is first come, first served. Please make sure you do not block the lane or park in the garage or pull in outside the house, as this belongs to the downstairs flat. If there is no parking on the lane there is a large car park for Crooklets Beach very close to the flat.
From the lane, go up the steps and through the blue gate to the front door. The keys to the front door are in the lockbox on the pillar on the right-hand side as you face the sea.
Through this door is a second door, marked “2”, for which there is another set of keys in the lockbox on the left side as you face the door. The flat is through this door, up the stairs.
The lockbox code is in your Airbnb booking message. The code is the same for both lockboxes.
Check out
Check out is before 10am. Please leave the keys in the lockbox. During the off-season (October to March) check out time may be flexible; please contact us to arrange this.

How to operate
Heating: There is a “Hive” thermostat on the blue shelves outside the kitchen which shows the temperature the heating is set to as well as the current temperature. To adjust it, turn the dial on the monitor to the temperature you would like.
Television: To turn on the television, press the red button at the top of the remote. This is a smart television, so if you have your own login you can access Netflix, Prime Video, iPlayer and other streaming platforms, but remember to log out before leaving! There is no terrestrial TV, internet only.
Power: The fuse boxes are in the cupboard in the conservatory if the power goes out. If there is a problem with the power or water, please feel free to contact us for help.
Tide: You cannot operate the tide, but it will regulate your life! Low tide is needed to walk to Northcott on the beach or to Barrel Rock. Bude tide times
Windows
The windows in the main sitting room have recently been fitted. They are “tilt and turn”.
- Handle at 90° (horizontal): the window tilts from the bottom. Ideal for some ventilation and the noise of the ocean.
- Handle pointing upward: the window opens from the side. Please don’t use this. If the long side windows are open, children or adults might fall out. It is for cleaning only.
- Handle pointing downward: the window is closed.
The glass is solar glass, which limits the amount of heat from the sun and prevents the room becoming a greenhouse. If it is hot, or if someone is sleeping on the sofa bed and doesn’t want to be woken at dawn, there are internal blinds. Each window has its own control at the top. Press the down button for two seconds and the blind will lower all the way. Press it again to stop, or let it run to the bottom.
There is also a remote control at the side of the single window, which controls all the window blinds together.
The blind motors are solar powered. The units can be lifted off the window by pushing them upwards, and then charged with a USB micro charger (on the bookshelf).

Traditional Cornish
While in Cornwall you must try a Cornish pasty (we recommend Pengenna Pasties), fudge (we recommend Roly’s Fudge Pantry) and a cream tea (available from most cafes and restaurants). Since you are in Cornwall, remember the jam goes first!
Shops
There are several shops in the town centre of Bude. Some of our favourites include Spencer Thorn (a bookshop full of keepsakes), Merchantman (great for souvenirs), Coast and Country, Bellini’s Deli and Moore’s Butchers. The Trading Post at the bottom of Belle Vue is ideal for buying beach essentials such as kites, buckets and crabbing kits. If you fancy an ice cream, the best can be found at Taste of Cornwall (in our opinion!).
